Tips
In Britain, unlike the U.S., there are two types of opticians: ophthalmic opticians, who can do eye tests and write prescriptions, and dispensing opticians, who make and dispense lenses. Only the latter type is called an optician in the United States.

In the U.S., opticians are allowed only to dispense eyewear. In most states (though not all of them -- Oregon is an example), an optician must be licensed and certified, and must have completed at least a two-year associate's degree in opticianry.

Many optician offices (especially the large chain stores) generally have an optometrist on the premises who can test your vision and prescribe eyewear. If you're finding it hard to make a decision, walk into some of the eyewear stores in your mall and check out the doctors available.

Looking for a Texas Optician?

"What is an optician?
Eye glass centers are professional managed facilities, which traditionally provide corrective lenses for vision.

Why do you look for one?
If you need a place:
» To provide you with new glasses,
» To fix the glasses that you already have,
» To give you the new look you want,
» To provide you with the vision correction you need,
» To give you the style of glasses you are looking for,
then you look for an optician.

Where do you find eye glass centers?
Wantcare will help you to find the best opticians providing complete, professional, and timely services. Check our listings to find the best optician close to you. Whether a private practice or a local chain, you should prefer licensed eye glass centers."
