A good way to clean up any stray nail polish after your pedicure is with a cotton swab soaked in polish remover. Take care to look closely and clean up the transparent base- and topcoat polish, too. Then be sure to wash your feet thoroughly, since leaving the polish on can dry out your skin.

Your pedicure won't last forever, now matter who does it; expect that you'll need a new one every week or two. You can prolong its beauty, freshen the color, and prevent chipping, however, by moisturizing your feet daily, and by replacing the topcoat of clear polish every day or two.

While pedicures usually focus on the toenails, the term can also be applied to the entire foot. It's a good idea to remove all dead skin periodically, so you should arm yourself with a foot file or pumice stone, and be willing to cut away hangnails and other dead skin as you tend to your cuticles.
