Finding a new vision care specialist may seem a daunting task, but as with most everything you should start by networking with friends, family, and coworkers in order to build a list of potential options. Once you have at least three good recommendations, pay them each a visit.

In most cases, all the vision care you need can be found in one location. Often, opticians and optometrists band together to offer you their services, and it's not unusual to find an ophthalmologist (an MD specializing in the eyes) closely associated with them, too.

Although we depend on it for everything we see, one of the biggest obstacles to good vision care is the sun. It bathes us not just with visible light, but also with ultraviolet light that can damage your vision. If you plan to spend any appreciable time out in the sun, be sure to wear a decent pair of sunglasses.
