Guess who manages your health care? You do. Many people consider that their primary care physician's job, but he's not you, and can't know or understand how you feel or what you need at all times. You'll need to keep an eye on yourself and seek care and treatment as necessary.

Health care is so expensive that it's best to seek it only when it's appropriate and as needed. That doesn't mean, however, that you should wait until you're sick to check out your options. Find a good basic primary care physician, and know where you need to go in emergencies.

The recent rise of all-in-one health care clinics means that you don't necessarily have to have a primary care physician or make an appointment to get in to see a doctor (though both are recommended). Keep in mind, however, that you may have to wait a while before you're called.
