Understandably, most parents are concerned when their child's temperature goes above normal, but pediatric care experts point out that it shouldn't be considered a fever until the temperature is over 100° F orally or 101° rectally. Don't administer fever-reducing medicines until that point.
If your child has a slight fever, try giving them a cool bath. This can effectively reduce their temperature; however, pediatric care experts caution that you shouldn't make the bath too cold, or you're likely to cause a sudden drop in body temperature, which can lead to seizures.
